I was engaged to an avoider. Recently, he kept telling me that he "turned off a switch" and can't get back to being happy with me. When I created space, he would tell me how much he loved me and wanted to marry me. When he returned from a trip, he told me that he wasn't happy - very inconsisent and tortuous for me. I told him to pack his bags and leave. He has now crawled in his little hole avoiding everyone and drinking to forget. It doesn't seem fair. Any thoughts on what to do? I have decided not to contact him again even though we bought a home together. I have put it up for sale. His lack of committment is disappointing and he is not the man I fell in love with. He is avoiding everything which is frustrating for the "chaser." I am done chasing.
