In the local area I get most of my clients by referral. People send their friends to me. Now, recently I heard how some clients of mine from about 30 miles away would share notes about visiting me. They spoke of "oh, you're gonna talk to the turtle, right." That casual phrase seems a good place to start here. (Actually I visualize a meadow with a large rock in the middle with bushes around it. People come to sit on the rock, cuz the turtle lives under it. I call it Turtle Meadow. Silly image.)
This is a note about making myself available to you by phone. It turns out people want this, and for the last year I have been “practicing” to see how it would work. Actually it seems to work pretty well, if we set some agreements clearly up front.
“Counseling”
You probably want to forget about that word – counseling. There have crept into existence lots of rules, legal ones, about using that. That may be something I do in my professional office with my partner, but by phone, nope. We chat. We share.
Cost
I charge $80 per hour. I don’t pay the phone bill. You call me. I can chat for increments of a half-hour. I process credit cards (Visa, MasterCharge, American Express, and Discover). I have also come to like it if people wanna pay me via PayPal. That internet service seems to work very reliably for all concerned.
Information/Scheduling
I want your address and phone number in case of scheduling problems, but mostly I want your email. I schedule most easily by email.
I live in the Pacific Northwest of the USA and thus on Pacific Time. I’m lazy (old, smart?), so I let you figure out how many hours different there is between you and me. I schedule sessions using my time.
I am most easily available from 7am to 11am (PST/PDT) on weekdays, particularly on Friday. (Of course, I like vacations with Sandra a lot.)
Start/Orientation
Its sometimes useful to share with me a bit about yourself in an email before the first session. A nice starting place is always some article that I have written that sparks your thoughts or questions. I do have my website pretty well memorized.
